Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program: What Iron Road Medicare Members Need to Know

June 30, 2026 — Iron Road Healthcare

Starting July 1, 2026, Medicare is launching a temporary program called the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program.

Because this is a CMS program, not an Iron Road program, we want to help members understand how Iron Road and Depot Drug will work with the program.

For full program details, eligibility requirements, covered medications, and updates, please visit the Official CMS Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program Website.

What You Need to Know

✔ The program is administered by CMS, not Iron Road

✔ Your healthcare provider must request approval through CMS

✔ Depot Drug North Platte can fill prescriptions through this program

✘ Depot Drug Mail Order is not available for this program

✘ Program costs do not count toward your Medicare Part D deductible or out-of-pocket costs

How Iron Road Fits Into the Program

Iron Road does not administer the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program. The program is handled separately through CMS, your healthcare provider, and participating pharmacies.

Iron Road cannot:

  • Determine eligibility for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program
  • Approve medications through the program
  • Submit authorizations to CMS on your behalf
  • Process program claims
  • Pay for medications obtained through the program

For questions about eligibility, approval, covered medications, or program requirements, please visit the Official CMS Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program Website or talk with your healthcare provider.

How Depot Drug Fits Into the Program

Depot Drug has two different pharmacy options, and they will not work the same way under this program.

Depot Drug North Platte’s walk-in retail pharmacy can fill eligible prescriptions through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program for approved members.

Depot Drug Mail Order is not available for prescriptions obtained through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program.

This difference is important. The walk-in retail pharmacy and the mail order pharmacy do not have the same role in this CMS program.
